CAMP TRANQUILITY
Eagle Scout Forestry Camp Patches
Camp Tranquility is located within the confines of Oak Mountain State Park south of Birmingham, Alabama. The camp was conceived by the Department of the Interior and Civilian Conservation Corp (C.C.C) as Oak Mountain Recreational Demonstration Area, Camp 1-B. Built between 1935-37 by the Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) after the C.C.C. re-located to Yosemite, it was first opened as a Boy Scout Camp and served as a Summer Camp for Scouts from the Black Warrior Council (Camp Warrior) and the Birmingham Area Council. It was also used by the general public and many Church Groups. The Camp was re-established in 2007 as Camp Tranquility and serves as a Primitive Camp for the Boy Scouts. In 2017, the Camp was designated an Eagle Scout Forestry Camp with all of the renovations coming as a result of Eagle Scout and O.A. Lodge Projects. It is open to all Scout Units & Local Organizations and mainly serves the Shelby District of the Greater Alabama Council. The patches issued since 2007 are shown below.
